PUPPY CLUB · BEFORE YOUR PUPPY COMES HOME
GETTING READY FOR YOUR PUPPY, WITHOUT THE PANIC BUYING
The weeks before collection day can fill up with a basket of things you'll never use, or with a calm plan for the first few nights. Puppy Club starts here, before your puppy is even home, so day one feels familiar to you instead of brand new.

WHAT ACTUALLY MATTERS BEFORE DAY ONE
Most of what you'll find online is a shopping list, and the shopping is the easy bit. What makes the first nights easier is deciding a few things before your puppy arrives: where they'll sleep (I'd start with the crate beside your bed), where they'll go to the toilet, who gets up in the night and what a normal day will look like.
It also helps to get down to puppy height and look at your home the way they will, because cables, shoes and the gap behind the sofa all look like a brilliant game to an eight-week-old. None of it needs to be perfect or expensive. It just means you're not making every decision at 2am with a crying puppy in your arms.
WHERE IT USUALLY GETS STUCK
Buying everything at once
A crate, a bed, a pen, five kinds of toy and a harness they'll grow out of in a month. Start with what the first two weeks need and add the rest once you know your puppy.
Collection day itself
The drive home is often the first time your puppy has left their littermates. A little planning (who holds them, a towel that smells of home, a toilet stop) makes a real difference to how they arrive.
Showing them everything
It's tempting to fill the first weekend with visitors. Your puppy will need far more sleep and far fewer new faces than you'd expect, and before vaccinations any outings are carried.
