At Paws Academy, our obedience 1-2-1 training sessions are designed to help improve your dogās manners and responsiveness while strengthening the connection between you and your dog. These sessions are hands-on and focused, giving you the tools to make everyday life with your dog easier and more enjoyable. Hereās what you can expect:
Getting Started (5-10 Minutes)
Weāll begin with a quick chat about your training goals and any specific obedience challenges youāre facing. While we talk, weāll observe your dogās behaviour to get a sense of their personality and needs.
The Training Session (30-40 Minutes)
Now itās time to get to work. Weāll focus on key obedience cues that we have agreed in the getting started section. These sessions are designed to help with any obedience that you want help with. Our approach is tailored so that these sessions are flexible to your needs. Some examples are (but not limited to): sit, stay, come, recall, etc heel, and leave it, using positive reinforcement to encourage good behaviour.
If your dog struggles with things like pulling on the lead, jumping up, or ignoring recall, weāll tackle these issues with practical solutions that work in real-life situations.
Youāll be actively involved in the process, learning how to communicate with your dog effectively so you can continue their progress at home.
Wrap-Up and Next Steps (5-10 Minutes)
Before we finish, weāll go over what we worked on, highlight areas for improvement, and answer any questions. Youāll get simple exercises to practise between sessions to help reinforce what your dog has learned.
As a Paws member, youāll also have access to additional training resources on our website, including step-by-step guides and videos to support your learning.
Dog training is all about consistency, and weāre here to help you every step of the way. Our goal is to make training enjoyable and effective so that life with your dog is less stressful and more rewarding.
