Real Stories, Real Results

At Paws Academy, we believe that every dog can learn and thrive with the right support. These case studies share the journeys of real dogs and their guardians who worked through challenges such as reactivity, guarding behaviours and handling issues. Each story highlights how positive and reward-based methods can transform behaviour and rebuild trust with patience, understanding and consistency.

Luna.jpg
Luna’s Reactivity Journey

Luna is a six-year-old Jack Russell who came to us with severe reactivity toward other dogs. After six weekly sessions using positive, reward-based methods, she can now sit calmly in a pub garden and walk past dogs, birds, and people with confidence.

Skippy the border collie
Skippy’s Journey: From Fear to Trust

From shut down to switched on, Skippy’s story is one of rebuilding trust. After being trained with a shock collar, he became fearful and withdrawn. We removed the collar and used clicker training and positive reinforcement to re-establish a bond with his guardian. Skippy now responds happily to training and approaches with confidence.

Molly, a white Bichon Frise, sits alert on a patterned sofa wearing a green harness. Her expression is calm and focused, showing her gentle personality.
MOLLY'S RESOURCE GUARDING JOURNEY

Molly, a three-year-old Bichon Frise, struggled with severe resource guarding around food, toys, and furniture. Through positive training and emotional support, her behaviour became calmer and safer. Her guardians now feel confident, and Molly feels secure in her home.

Cooper, a young brindle Boxer with a white stripe on his face, looks focused and alert. He wears a collar and sits outdoors in natural light.
COOPER'S LEAD WALKING JOURNEY

Cooper, a young Boxer with no previous training, used to pull heavily on the lead. With structured training, clear cues and handling techniques, walks are now calmer and more connected.

RUSTY'S CONFIDENCE BUILDING JOURNEY

Rusty, a nine-month-old rescue Collie, arrived completely shut down and unable to engage with the world. Through trust-building and gentle guidance, she began to explore, connect and gain confidence.

Billy, a golden-coated Golden Retriever, rests peacefully with eyes closed on a nautical-themed dog bed, featuring red and white anchors and lifebuoys.
BILLY'S KITCHEN MANNER JOURNEY

Billy, a three-year-old Golden Retriever, was constantly counter surfing and stealing food. Through virtual sessions, we helped his guardians create structure, focus and calmer kitchen habits.
