Agility is for Every Dog: Busting the Myths
Think agility is only for super-speedy, ultra-competitive dogs? Think again!
Agility is about connection, confidence, and having fun — and it’s something any dog can enjoy, no matter their age, size, or experience.
Here are a few common myths we’re here to bust
Myth 1: “My dog’s too old or too small for agility.”
Truth: Agility can be adapted for every dog. It’s not about speed or height — it’s about keeping their mind and body active, building trust, and having a good time together.
We’ve seen everything from tiny Chihuahuas confidently flying over mini hurdles to senior Labradors enjoying a slow, steady stroll through tunnels.
Myth 2: “My dog needs to be highly trained before starting.”
Truth: You don’t need a perfectly trained dog to begin agility. We’ll help you start where you are, using positive reinforcement and simple, fun exercises that set you both up for success.
One of our favourite stories is of a young rescue dog who barely knew “sit” when they arrived — by the end of their first session, they were happily going through tunnels with their tail wagging!
Myth 3: “Agility looks too serious or competitive for us.”
Truth: Our workshops are relaxed, supportive, and all about celebrating small wins. Whether it’s a wobbly first tunnel or a joyful jump, every moment is a success.
We’re all about smiles, not scores — it’s just as exciting to cheer for a careful crawl through a tunnel as it is for a speedy dash!
Myth 4: “Agility is only for high-energy breeds.”
Truth: Any dog, whether lively or laid-back, can find joy in agility. It’s a brilliant way to build focus, confidence, and a stronger bond — at your dog’s own pace.
We’ve worked with gentle Greyhounds who preferred thoughtful obstacle work and bouncy Spaniels who loved sprinting through courses — and both had a wonderful time.

We get it — every dog is different, and we’re here to help them shine!
The world is full of dogs who thrive when given a chance to learn, move, and connect.
Every dog — from the bold adventurer to the thoughtful observer — deserves opportunities to explore, grow, and have fun. Without positive outlets, their natural curiosity and energy can sometimes turn into boredom, frustration, or restlessness.
Agility is a wonderful way to celebrate your dog’s unique strengths while building confidence, focus, and a deeper connection between you both.
Maybe you’re looking for a fun new way to bond…
Maybe you’re hoping to help your dog build confidence or channel their love of movement…
