BREED GUIDE

YOUR HUSKY PUPPY

Huskies were bred to run in a team, pulling sleds over long distances, so they're friendly, independent and built to keep going. They're talkers, escape artists and often not safe off lead around cats or sheep, so honest expectations matter from the very first week.

ESCAPING

CHECK THE FENCES

Huskies can dig, climb and squeeze through gaps you didn't know were there. Check every gate and fence before your puppy comes home, and never leave them out in the garden alone.

RECALL

A LONG LINE IS YOUR FRIEND

Lots of Huskies are never fully safe off lead, because the urge to run is so strong. A long line, a harness and secure fields give them freedom without the risk.

BEING LEFT

TEACH ALONE TIME

A team dog doesn't love being on their own, and a bored Husky can be very noisy and very destructive. Short, calm spells alone from week one help a lot.
