BREED GUIDE

YOUR KERRY BLUE TERRIER PUPPY

The Kerry Blue is another of our Irish breeds, born black and turning that lovely blue as they grow. They were all-rounders on Irish farms, herding, guarding and hunting, so a Kerry puppy is clever and loyal and can be sharp with other dogs if early meetings go wrong.

OTHER DOGS

CHOOSE THEIR FRIENDS

A few calm, well-matched dogs to meet is far better for a Kerry puppy than a busy park. Rough play with strangers can teach them that other dogs are something to square up to.

THE COAT

START GROOMING NOW

That soft, curly coat keeps growing and needs regular grooming for life. Short, happy handling from the first week, with plenty of treats, makes the groomer a friend rather than a battle.

GUARDING

CALM AT THE DOOR

There's a guard dog in the mix, so the front door can become a big deal. Reward your puppy for coming away from the door to you, and keep early visitors calm and quiet.
