Working with dogs and their people is rewarding, and it's also heavy. Clients bring their worry, their frustration and sometimes their grief into every session, and a lot of trainers carry that home with them. Add late messages, prices that haven't gone up in years and a diary with no gaps, and burnout creeps in quietly. Mental Health for Dog Trainers is a practical course for dog trainers, behaviourists, walkers, groomers and anyone else who works with dogs and the people they live with. It looks at where the mental load of this work comes from and gives you the tools to handle it, from boundaries with clients to the cases that stay with you. There are five modules. Each one has written lessons, a short video recap and a quiz, so you can read, watch and check what you've taken in: • Module 1: Understanding the mental load (burnout, comparison and imposter syndrome) • Module 2: Boundaries with clients, your time and money • Module 3: Supporting clients without absorbing their feelings, including referral and the cases that end in rehoming or euthanasia • Module 4: Habits and support that last, with your own sustainability plan • Module 5: Your pattern under stress, and what to do about it You also get three downloads to keep: a 24-page Resource Kit with check-ins, planners and quick-reference pages, 22 pages of boundary scripts and client policies you can copy and adapt, and a 12-page workbook to build your own sustainability plan. The course is self-paced and you can come back to it whenever work gets heavy. Once you've finished every lesson and quiz you'll receive a certificate of completion for around 15 hours of study, which you can log as CPD. This course is about looking after yourself at work.
