Working with dogs is only half the job. The other half is the person holding the lead, and that's usually where plans stall. A client who feels judged, overloaded or unsure won't follow a plan, however good it is, and most of us were never taught how to coach people. The Diploma in Client Coaching for Canine Professionals is an online diploma, marked by Renée herself, for dog trainers, behaviourists, veterinary teams, groomers, walkers and anyone else who supports dogs and the people they live with. It teaches you how people learn and change, how to talk to clients so they stay with you, and how to keep yourself steady when the work gets heavy. There are eight modules. Each one has written lessons, short videos and quizzes, and it finishes with a case-based assignment that Renée reads herself and gives you written feedback on. Here's what each module covers: • Module 1: The psychology of the client (client states, the stages of change and barriers to follow-through) • Module 2: How adults learn, and when to coach, instruct or consult • Module 3: Listening, questioning, motivational interviewing and trust • Module 4: Shame, conflict, boundaries and when to refer on • Module 5: Homework, follow-up and plans that work for neurodivergent clients • Module 6: Professional boundaries, burnout and confidentiality • Module 7: Coaching across cultures, families, shelters, clinics and field settings • Module 8: A final case that brings it all together You also get six downloads to use in your own work: a 16-page Diploma Handbook with every assignment brief and the marking criteria, a coaching checklist and worksheet, a listening and questioning toolkit, scripts for difficult conversations and referrals, client plan and homework templates, and a burnout reminders sheet with a resilience toolkit to fill in. Access lasts 12 months from the day you enrol and the diploma is around 120 hours of study, which you can log as CPD with your professional body. Renée reads and marks every assignment within 7 working days, and your diploma certificate is emailed to you once all eight have been passed.
